Alpha Housing has joined with Dunrich Properties to launch a £2.2m project to construct 14 homes for older people in east Belfast.

The development is funded with a £1.4m in Department for Communities' (DfC) grant through the Housing Executive, with the balance of funding provided by Alpha Housing.

Situated on Barnetts Road, near the Stormont Hotel, the homes will be available for rent to social housing tenants. They are due to be finished by December 2020.

Alpha said features will include generous internal space, maximum use of natural light and a design that incorporates trees and shrubs - which Alpha Housing said would enhance the environment around the homes.
