A Newry fit-out firm has reported sales growth of nearly 70% to £94m for its work in the Republic with clients including IT firm Oracle and biscuit maker Jacob's.
Pre-tax profits for 2017 at Mac-Interiors Ltd, part of Mac Group, also rose to £4.9m from £2.9m a year earlier. Revenue was up from £56.5m. Mac Group is a specialist contractor in the construction, refurbishment and fit-out of commercial office buildings.
It has offices in Newry, Dublin, London and Birmingham and employs a direct workforce of more than 130 people. In Belfast it is to finish a £11m refurbishment of office development River House in Belfast in May.
Group finance director Martin Daly said: "In the past year our business has undergone a significant evolution offering an expanded service. This in turn has supported the creation of 40 new construction roles, including a number of key senior appointments."
Founder and chief executive Paul McKenna added: "Traditionally, a small percentage of our work has been in NI but we are seeing a real buzz and upturn in confidence in Belfast."
