A Northern Ireland data company has won an export deal worth £1m in the US.

AquaQ Analytics will be analysing market data for a New York global investment management team as part of the deal.

It's recruited 27 new staff in the last six months, with salaries of around £30,000, including 11 who will work on the new contract. It employs 90 people in total from its base in Queen Street, Belfast.

Invest NI chief executive Alastair Hamilton said: "AquaQ Analytics has shown a strong commitment to exporting which is contributing to the company's significant growth and ensuring that it is grabbing the attention of major firms in the US.

"The company has used Invest NI trade support to visit the US a number of times. It is now in a very good position for further growth in the US, a market which offers significant opportunities for Northern Ireland businesses."

The firm specialises in high-speed databases for multiple industries and has received Invest NI support of £138,000 towards the new jobs. Chief executive Ronan Pairceir said: "The range of support we have received from Invest NI over a number of years is reaping significant dividends."
