NI Water working on £2m flood alleviation scheme
NI Water has announced a £2m flood alleviation scheme in Co Antrim.
The company said the work at Toome Road/Wakehurst Road in Ballymena would bring major benefits to the area. It's expected to take 18 months to complete and is intended to increase the capacity of the sewerage system.
David McClean, NI Water project manager, said: the "major investment" would bring improvements to the sewerage infrastructure and provide additional storage during periods of heavy rain, reducing the risk of future flooding.
Work will involve upgrading existing sewers, installing new ones and adding a large storage tank.
