Northern Ireland company wins prize for innovation

A Northern Ireland company that specialises in theme park street furniture has won a national award, just a week after triumphing in the Belfast Telegraph Business Awards.

Environmental Street Furniture, led by Alan Lowry, won the best business and product innovation title at the national final of the FSB Celebrating Small Business Awards.

Mr Lowry's victory at the ceremony in the Park Plaza Westminster in London came a week after he took home the excellence in exporting accolade at the Belfast Telegraph Business Awards in partnership with Ulster Bank.

The company exports its products to more than 22 countries, and its customers include some of the world's biggest theme parks.

FSB regional chair Brendan Kearney said the firm's success on the national stage was "testament to the excellence we have here within our local small business community".

Mr Lowry said the award was "a hugely valuable external endorsement by the experts in business that are FSB".

"We are honoured that our business has received recognition," he added.
