By John Mulgrew

Northern Ireland construction giant McAleer & Rushe has sold on one of its proposed hotel projects for £32.7m.

The six-storey Maldron Hotel in Newcastle is to be completed in March 2019, and is let on a 35-year lease to Dalata. It has now been bought by UK Commercial Property Trust Limited.

Stephen Surphlis, property director of McAleer & Rushe, said the hotel is a "significant project and will support Newcastle's continued economic development by attracting both business and leisure visitors to the heart of the city".
