Northern Ireland noodles venue named 'best cheap eat' in the UK
South Belfast Japanese noodle restaurant Bia Rebel Ramen has won 'best cheap eats' in the UK at the Observer Food Monthly Awards.
The award for the Ormeau Road venue, which opened in March, was announced at a ceremony in London last night.
The OFM Awards aim to showcase the best food in the UK, with 10 reader-voted categories.
Owner and chef Brian Donnelly said: "For us to win this award, given the competition from places like London, is just amazing."
Brian runs the restaurant and takeaway with his partner Jenny Holland and staff Aphra Hill, Anna Lise McElduff and Joe Woods. The noodles are made from scratch every day, and all the broths and seasoning are made in-house.
Past NI winners at the Observer awards include Harry's Shack in Portstewart, which won Best Newcomer in 2015, and St George's Market, Belfast.
