PR company MCE expands with takeover of Stakeholder

By Staff Reporter

Public relations firm MCE has acquired Stakeholder Communications, one of Northern Ireland's longest-established PR businesses.

The takeover by the Belfast firm includes six-full-time Stakeholder staff, with former managing director Tom Kelly retained as a consultant.

Paul McErlean, MCE managing director, said: "We had been in discussion with Stakeholder for some time and are now very glad to get this deal agreed, retain all of the staff and move the clients across seamlessly to MCE.

"The deep experience and networks of Tom and his team have been built up over many years and we are really looking forward to deploying that expertise on behalf of our clients."

Mr Kelly added: "I am pleased MCE has acquired the Stakeholder business as it will provide continuity for both staff and clients.

"There are already good synergies between the two companies, which will improve with Stakeholder now fully integrated into the MCE business. I am looking forward to working with Paul as a consultant to the company."

Stakeholder was wound up by HMRC last month over an unpaid tax bill of around £200,000.
