An app developed to help grocery stores shift their reduced-to-clear food has been launched in Northern Ireland.

Mobile platform Gander's app can monitor reduced food produce in Henderson Group Spar, Eurospar, Vivo and Vivoxtra stores. Gander displays reduced-to-clear food in real-time, using Henderson Technology's own point of sale system. When the item is sold, it's removed from the app. Gander founder Ashley Osborne said its partnership with Henderson would give retailers and people the ability to have a more "sustainable and mindful" approach to shopping.

Henderson Technology said Gander would help it address the environmental and moral problems surrounding food waste.
