Regular flights to Lake District taking off from City this June

By Margaret Canning

Northern Ireland is to have a new air route to the Lake District in England from George Best Belfast City Airport.

The Loganair service will fly six times a week from June 4.

The airline is running the route as a partner of Stobart Group, and later in June Flybe will start flying four times a week to Doncaster Sheffield Airport.

Katy Best, commercial director at Belfast City Airport, said: "Local demand for connectivity to the northern English county is evident amongst both business and leisure passengers and the six times weekly Loganair service will accommodate affordable and convenient access.

"The airline will be operating this route as a partner of Stobart Group, making the arrival of strategic importance to Belfast City Airport where developing our route network remains a primary aim."

Scottish firm Loganair has 40 routes to the UK, RoI and Norway.
