A Co Antrim entrepreneur has set up his own haulage company offering a specialised truck-mounted crane hire service.

Mike Blake launched Bewlake Lift and Haul Limited after he spotted a gap in the market for a combined crane and heavy transport service using a single vehicle.

Mr Blake received assistance from the government-funded Go For It Programme in association with Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council.

His company now operates across Ireland and Britain using a Volvo FH tractor unit with extendable platform trailer and crane.

Mr Blake explained that he had wanted to follow in the footsteps of his father by setting up a road transport business.

"I grew up around trucks, so the haulage industry is in my blood," he said.
