Grocery retailer SuperValu, owned by Musgrave Group, has invested £250,000 in 30 new lines for the barbecue season.

The investment will be available in stores across the retailer's Prepared By Our Butcher and Fresh For You lines.

It follows on from the retail chain's recent wins at the Belfast Telegraph's sister publication Ulster Grocer's marketing awards.

SuperValu took the Best CSR Initiative/Charity Partnership for its SuperValu SuperStars programme, and was highly commended for its SuperValu Signature Tastes campaign in the Best Product Launch category.

Among the new products are burgers and sausages, Cajun chicken skewers, steaks and piri piri spatchcock chickens.

Musgrave Group, which is based in Co Cork, also owns the Mace and Centra convenience store brands.

It recently opened a new Centra at Belfast's City Quays development.
