Toy franchise The Entertainer is to open its second Northern Ireland outlet at The Junction Retail Park in Antrim after a £300,000 investment.

The new 4,000 sq ft store will bring another eight jobs to the shopping complex when it opens in June. The toy retail chain, which employs 1,530 people, currently operates its sole local outlet at Castlecourt in Belfast.

The group acquired the Early Learning Centre portfolio in February, consisting of 80 concessions within UK Mothercare stores and 400 standalone franchise stores worldwide.

It also acquired 57 toy shops in Spain from POLY in December 2018.

The new store follows the recent completion of Lidl's new supermarket at The Junction and McDonald's new drive-through restaurant.

Nando's is set to open its doors at The Junction later in 2019.

Andrew Milner-Walker from The Entertainer said: "We were impressed to learn of The Junction's redevelopment plans and felt it was a prime opportunity for us to build The Entertainer's brand presence further in Northern Ireland. As a family-owned business, we are excited to launch our new store in Antrim's leading shopping destination, where catering for a family-market is a key focus".
