Titanic Belfast has won a European award for organisational excellence.

The honour from the European Foundation for Quality Management (EFQM) is given to organisations with the highest operational standards across all aspects of their business.

Three assessors from the EFQM visited Titanic Belfast to review its procedures and practices.

Titanic Belfast chief executive Judith Owens said: "In seven years, Titanic Belfast has welcomed over five million visitors from over 145 countries, including Her Majesty, The Queen.

"This award is very special to us as it recognises the company, and our practices - internally and externally, across all areas of our business - as best practice nationally and internationally.

"Therefore, we are extremely proud."
