Top American online sports club platform expands Belfast base
An American sports management platform will expand its presence in Northern Ireland as it aims to attract more sports clubs to its systems.
Sportsengine Inc, sister company to GolfNow - a tee-time service based at City Quays in Belfast - is the USA's biggest provider of online sports management solutions to sports clubs, coaches, athletes and parents.
Its growth here follows on from the success of its swimming club platform, TeamUnify, introduced to the UK last year.
It offers time-saving software to help more than one million teams, clubs and league administrators to manage, connect and communicate with their athletes, parents, coaches and team managers.
Its latest investment here will also see the company expand its sales and account management team in Belfast and open up its range of online services to sports other than swimming.
NBC Sports executive Brian Smith will move into an expanded role in SportsEngine. Brian and his brother Rory set up BRS Golf, which was bought over by GolfNow and NBC Sports owner Comcast in 2013. He will now lead SportsEngine's growth in the UK, Republic of Ireland and Europe.
He said: "The potential for growth for the company across all sports is huge, which is why we are expanding our operations and targeting swimming and wider sports clubs throughout the UK, Ireland and Europe, with a particular focus on Northern Ireland which will now be home to our international operations."
