Top footballers invest in Newry tech company
Two Premier League footballers have invested seven figure sums into Newry sports tech firm STATsports.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Raheem Sterling, who play for Liverpool and Manchester City, have become the first outsider investors, as well as global ambassadors, for the fast-growing wearable performance tracking and analysis company.
Both have come on board as the firm, which is valued at £200m, begins to market to consumers beyond the professional sports field.
Midfielder Oxlade-Chamberlain said "the sky is the limit" for STATSports, while Man City forward Sterling added that the firm's product portfolio "has huge potential".
STATSports said the investments mark a significant moment for the company and described it as a "ringing endorsement" for their plans.
