Translink launches red Foyle Metro bus fleet in Londonderry

Translink have launched their new Foyle Metro bus in Londonderry.

The new fleet of buses represents an investment of over £3 million consisting of 19 brand new, environmentally-friendly buses.

The new service will operate across 14 bus corridors on a route network with a new-look red bus fleet.

A new timetable has been designed to meet the future transport needs of the city.

Launching the new Foyle Metro, Translink Group Chief Executive Chris Conway said: "The people of Derry-Londonderry told us they wanted a modern and attractive bus service that reflects and supports the city's prosperity.

"We've used feedback to design the 'Foyle Metro' experience - it's new look, routes and timetables - and we're looking forward to their first impressions of the new service.

"In recent years we have invested over £55m in bus and rail transport improvements in the North West; Foyle Metro is a further major part of our plans to deliver continued passenger growth and make Translink your first choice for travel in Northern Ireland."

Mr Conway added: "As a major local employer delivering more than 270 jobs in the North West, Foyle Metro will also help secure a successful future for our business here."

Translink also work with the Department of Infrastructure and Derry City and Strabane District Council to deliver road infrastructure improvements in the city.

Foyle Metro timetables are available in-station or online.
