Apple co-founder Steve Jobs' family home burgled

A thief stole more than $60,000 in computers and jewellery from the home of the late Apple co-founder Steve Jobs, police confirmed yesterday.

Kariem McFarlin (35) told authorities he did not realise whose home he had burgled until he saw a letter addressed to Jobs at the property in Palo Alto, California.

A police report confirmed that among the items stolen in the break-in on 17 July were three iPads, three iPods, two iPhones, an Appple TV device, a Mac Mini computer and a Macbook laptop.

Police said McFarlin was apprehended when investigators were able to track him down after he used the stolen devices to connect to his iTunes account.

He was arrested on 2 August and held on $500,000 bail.
