German internet entrepreneur Thomas Wagner killed in plane crash

Thomas Wagner, the founder and manager of German internet company Unister, has been killed in a plane crash.

Unister, which operates popular travel websites, said the 38-year-old was among four people killed in the accident in western Slovenia on Wednesday.

The US-registered Piper 32 had been flying from Venice in Italy to the German city of Leipzig.

Slovenian air traffic control said the pilot reported problems with icing before the aircraft disappeared from the radar.

Wagner founded Leipzig-based Unister in 2002. The company, which operates German holiday-booking sites and, now has some 1,200 employees.

The company said it will name a successor soon.
