A Northern Ireland tech start-up which has developed a system to locate distressed skiers has received funding from angel investors.

Mountain Technologies has secured "significant investment" from Halo Business Angel Network (HBAN) investors which will be used to market its product. The LifePass enables ski resort operators to quickly and accurately locate a skier who has indicated that they are in distress.

The platform can monitor and receive SOS messages from distressed skiers and in turn contact a ski patrol with location information.

It was founded by Pete McFetridge and Ken Armstrong. It pitched to an HBAN Ulster event earlier this year and has now secured a scale up size investment from six angel investors and Co Fund II.

Mr McFetridge said: "Smart technology is being used around the world in many different sectors and we want to use that technology to transform mountain resort operational management and improve safety."
