Samsung's rear mounted screens help drivers see the road ahead from behind lorry

New technology from Samsung fitted on the rear of lorries may put an end to dangerous over-taking by allowing the drivers behind to spot oncoming vehicles.

The new screens from the Korean company are connected to wireless cameras at the front of the lorry, which allow drivers to see the road ahead of articulated lorries and other large vehicles.

The viability and functionality of the screens are currently being tested in Argentina, where head-on collision caused by over-taking is the largest cause of road death.

"So far Samsung has been able to confirm that the technology works and that this idea can definitely save the lives of many people," a spokesman said.

The company has expressed its desire to establish the ‘Safety Trucks’ around the world and revealed that it is currently working with relevant organisations to offer guidance on getting the screens approved my Road Safety Authorities internationally.
