Tech that: showing the world Northern Ireland's range of top flight talent

Ahead of the event at St George's Market next month, founder Gareth Quinn explains why it's become a major digital experience

Digital DNA launched in 2013 with the aim of inspiring and informing entrepreneurs and businesses of all sizes to help them respond to the opportunities and threats of digital.

The company’s showpiece technology and business event takes place on June 8 in St George’s Market, Belfast. More than 1,000 local and international delegates will attend talks, workshops and discussions to demonstrate how organisations can harness digital technologies and trends to shape their business strategy.

Digital experts from organisations like Atlas, Uber, Manchester City Football Club, Harvard Business School and Google take up five stages on the day, covering five core themes of marketing, data, security, fintech and innovation.

The event exists to inspire businesses of all shapes and sizes to embrace digital for growth, and there’s nothing more inspirational than hearing how the biggest and best brands in the world use technology to continue to innovate and grow, while hearing directly from smaller businesses that have had success in harnessing digital.

As well as helping our local businesses grow, one of Digital DNA’s main goals is to showcase the technology and business talent working and living in Northern Ireland to opinion formers and stakeholders around the world. The Digital DNA team strongly believes that Northern Ireland is home to some of the greatest technology and business thinkers on the planet, in both current and future form.

This year’s event is a prime example of just how high the flag is flying for Northern Ireland in the global marketplace. The fact that business leaders from all four corners of the globe are flying to Belfast is a testament to the strength of Northern Ireland’s technology and business scene and it’s something we as a country should be very proud of.

Digital DNA recently organised a trade mission for local companies to visit San Francisco. The trip took in Silicon Valley’s leading lights, including Uber, Microsoft, Google, Facebook, Evernote and Intel and one thing became apparent — Northern Ireland’s reputation is right up there.
