Web Summit 2015: Dan Brown, Tinder founder Sean Rad and Edwin Van Der Sar among tech conference attendees
Da Vinci Code author, Dan Brown, Tinder founder Sean Rad and ex Manchester United legend Edwin Van Der Sar. are among the attendees at this year's Web Summit in November.
This year’s event will involve over 30,000 people attend with over 2,000 start-ups, 1,000 investors and 650 speakers, co founder Paddy Cosgrave said today.
Mr Cosgrave described the conference as the most important gathering of start ups on the planet.
“Organisers are expecting somewhere in the region of 30,000 attendees, beating last year’s figure of 22,500. More than 2,000 start-ups, 1,000 leading investors and 650 speakers from nearly every major technology company in the world will come to Dublin to take part int he three-day conference.”
Mr Cosgrave said that since the first conference in 2010, start-ups who have attended have raised on average €391,448 each.
“Since the very first event that we held in Ireland we’ve been approached. In 2011 we held meetings in Number 10 Downing Street, and anyone who was at the summit last year would have noticed the amount of foreign state agencies,” he said.
There will be 21 summits over nine stages at this year’s event which will take place in the RDS in Dublin from Tuesday, November 3 to Thursday, November 5.
Other notable speakers include the founder of Instagram, Mike Krieger, the head of Pixar, Ed Catmull and Stripe’s John Collinson.
To mark the fifth anniversary of the event Mr Cosgrave has invited the original 400 attendees from 2010 to attend this year’s event for free.
“These are our founding 400 - all from Ireland - and we want them to come to Web Summit to celebrate our growth,” Mr Cosgrave said.
