Managing director: Laurence Martin
Pre-tax profit: £2.2m
The principal activities of the Brett Martin group are the manufacture of glassfibre thermoplastic sheeting and pipes - products which are frequently used in construction and drainage contracts.
Other subsidiaries of the group are based in Great Britain and the Netherlands. A large proportion of production is exported.
The group increased annual turnover in the early years of the previous decade, reaching a peak of £112m in 2007.
Then for two successive years turnover fell slightly to £101m in 2009.
More recently, turnover has recovered to reach a new high of £124m in 2011.
After a sharp fall in profits in 2008, despite the adverse general market conditions, operating and pre-tax profits have recovered in 2009-11.
Employment in the group has varied slightly from year to year.
In 2009, numbers employed fell by 9% to average just 737 people and then recovered in 2010 and averaged 774 people in 2011.
The balance sheet value of shareholders' funds at just over £33m has varied slightly, usually influenced by the combined impact of post-tax profits and after allowing for the deduction of dividends.
The directors report that they are committed to creating long-term shareholder value by increasing market share through a combination of organic growth and acquisitions.
