Centra to open 25 new stores this year
Irish convenience retailer Centra has announced 25 new stores after reporting record sales for 2018.
Revenue hit €1.63bn (£1.5bn) last year, a 3.6% increase on the previous year. The group said the 25 stores will open across Ireland this year as part of a €35m (£30.6m) investment.
Centra, which is part of the Cork-based Musgrave group, will update a further 80 stores.
In total, 375 jobs will be created across Centra's network this year. Centra currently employs almost 11,000 people across 463 stores.
Musgrave also owns SuperValu and Mace.
The group said its 'Inspired by' range recorded €6.3m (£5.5m) in sales since its launch last July. The group also highlighted the performance of its Frank and Honest coffee, a brand which recorded 40% growth in coffee volume last year. Martin Kelleher, Centra managing director, said: "Our record sales performance is testament to the dedication of over 463 Centra store owners across the country who provide market leading stores in convenient locations, and our ongoing investment in shaping the future of the convenience market."
