Airline Jet2 has announced 26 additional flights to the Canary Islands from Belfast International from next year.

The firm said the extra services to Lanzarote and Tenerife would add almost 10,000 seats from January to April 2020.

Jet2, which also operates flights to Gran Canaria and Fuerteventura from Belfast International Airport, said the move was in response to increased demand for winter sun and holidays during the Easter period.

The airline's chief executive, Steve Heapy, said: "We have responded quickly to extra demand for flights and holidays to Lanzarote and Tenerife by adding more of our award-winning flights and ATOL-protected package holidays from Belfast International Airport.

"This means holidaymakers now have even more choice and flexibility when it comes to winter sun and holidays outside of the main summer season, including during the February school holidays and Easter."
