Market braced for UK's retail giants to reveal latest results
Key retailers including Marks & Spencer will this week give eagerly-awaited trading updates, to include the Christmas period.
Supermarket Morrisons will announce details of its trading today, followed by Sainsbury's tomorrow.
John Lewis will join Marks & Spencer and Tesco in giving updates on Thursday.
Last week Next announced better sales than expected, while John Lewis said its sales in the week to December 29 were up by 4.5% on the year before.
M&S will be the most closely-scrutinised of all after the chain announced a turnaround plan to close 100 stores before 2022.
A bid to revive falling clothing sales included an advertising campaign featuring TV presenter Holly Willoughby.
M&S profits were down almost two-thirds to £176.4m in 2017. None of its 20 stores in Northern Ireland are affected by closures.
