Building materials giant CRH - Ireland's biggest company and owner of Northstone in Northern Ireland - expects profits to hit a record €3.2bn (£2.8bn) this year.
The company is benefiting from underlying growth in the Americas and solid momentum in Europe.
Its sales in the first nine months of the year hit €20.7bn (£18bn), up 2% on the first nine months of 2016.
The company, which last month confirmed it would pay $3.5bn (£2.bn) to buy US-based Ash Grove Cement, issued a trading update yesterday.
"We continue to expect another year of progress for the group," the business said.
CRH, led by chief executive Albert Manifold, has expanded significantly in the past few years.
