Supermarket giant Tesco has opened its biggest store in the Republic with the creation of 175 new jobs.

The €30m (£26m) store is located in Dublin's Liffey Valley.

The majority of the 175 jobs have been recruited in the local area, and the additional posts bring to over 13,000 the total number of people employed by Tesco in Ireland.

The chain is again vying to be the biggest grocery retailer in the Republic, where it has 150 stores, a position it had held for more than a decade until 2014.

The store features 60,000 sq ft of shopping space and over 440 car parking spaces for customers.

Retail units at the new store include Tesco Mobile, Vision Express, Costa Coffee, and Holland & Barrett.
