The British fashion market could lose more than £350m in value in the coming year as heavy discounting and a fall in shopper visits continue to challenge the sector, analysts have said.

While shopper numbers have gone up by almost a quarter-of-a-million in the year to June 3, the fashion market declined by 0.4% over the same time - the eighth consecutive period of flat or negative growth, Kantar Worldpanel revealed.

The last time the UK fashion market experienced more than one month of growth in a row was two years ago in June 2016.

Kantar Worldpanel said shopping frequency was falling.
