Innovation has become something of a byword at Peugeot in recent times.
The latest addition to the French company’s never less than interesting range is the 3008 Hybrid4 – the world’s first diesel hybrid crossover.
Power comes from a 2.0-litre 163-bhp diesel mated to an electric motor that has a maximum power output of 37 bhp. This power is put down onto the road by a highly efficient four-wheel drive system.
A 35 per cent improvement in fuel consumption is just one of this benefits of this latest development in hybrid technology. It’s claimed that 75-mpg is easily attained.
Emissions are improved too, noise levels are very low and it is possible to choose from four different operating modes: ZEV, 4WD, Sport or auto, to suit varying driving needs.

£26,995 is not exactly budget but there’s a payback in low running costs and the 3008 Hybrid4 is pleasant to drive too.
