Skoda Karoq: Skoda debuts new baby SUV

Skoda has revealed its all-new compact SUV, the Karoq – a replacement for the Yeti.

The new car will go on sale later this year, and is similar to sister vehicles the Seat Ateca and Volkswagen Tiguan.

The Karoq, smaller than the larger Skoda Kodiaq, comes with a choice of five engines and two or four-wheel drive.

The most efficient Karoq is the 2.0-litre TDI diesel that produces 150PS, while a 1.6-litre diesel with 115PS is also available. The car also comes in two petrol versions – a 1.0-litre TSI and 1.5-litre TSI.

There are five driving modes to choose from, including an off-road option. Equipment includes a glass infotainment touch screen.

The car is bristling with driver assistance systems like Park Assist, Lane Assist and Traffic Jam Assist.

Skoda’s designers have also installed Blind Spot Detect, Front Assist with Predictive Pedestrian Protection, and Emergency Assist for improved occupant and passenger safety.

The boot is 521 litres, opening to 1,630 litres with the (removable) rear seats folded flat.

UK price and spec is expected soon.
