Game Of Thrones has set a new record for Emmy nominations in its final season.

The nominations for the Emmy Awards, which honour the best in television each year, were announced in Los Angeles.

While the eighth and final season of Game Of Thrones, which is filmed in Northern Ireland, was met with mixed reviews, it picked up 32 nominations - the most for any programme in a single season and breaking a 25-year record.

British actress Emilia Clarke earned a nomination for outstanding drama actress for her portrayal of queen Daenerys Targaryen, while Kit Harington, who plays Jon Snow, was given the nod for lead actor in a drama series.
