Actor Morgan made Freeman of City
Oscar-winning actor Morgan Freeman has lived up to his name - by being awarded the Freedom of the City of London.
The US star of The Shawshank Redemption and Invictus has now become a Freeman of the City, after being honoured for his acting and charitable work.
The 77-year-old actor - wearing a dark suit and waistcoat, coupled with gold earrings - attended the ceremony at London's Guildhall today.
The tradition of the Freedom of the City is believed to date back to 1237. It used to allow bearers of the title various privileges such as herding sheep over London Bridge although this is no longer the case.
