Actor Tim Robbins' band set for Belfast

Actor Tim Robbins is to swap the Hollywood blockbuster for the sweat and sawdust of the rock circuit in Belfast when he embarks on a tour of Europe for the first time as a muscian.

Robbins, star of classic film The Shawshank Redemption, teams up with The Rogues Gallery Band on his tour which stops off in Belfast when he will be appearing at the Limelight on September 27.

The tour is in anticipation of his eagerly-awaited album, which is released on the same day of his visit to Belfast. The album is self-titled Tim Robbins And The Gallery Band. The actor, director, screenwriter and muscian has joined with friend and producer Hal Wilner to create this nine-track album from which Robbins describes every song as a story. Wilner said of the album: “It’s got incredible beauty, incredible anger — everything that music can do.”

Robbins is no stranger to the world of music, though. For a long time he has written songs and played in small venues and also has co-produced soundtracks for Bob Roberts, when he played a folk singing right wing politician, and Dead Man Walking, which he directed and produced.
