Arnie for 'substantial' new role'

Arnold Schwarzenegger and Bruce Willis are set for "substantial roles" in The Expendables 2.

There had been rumours that the duo, who made cameos in the original 2010 blockbuster, would reappear alongside Sylvester Stallone in the eagerly anticipated sequel, but Deadline reports that they are in final talks to take bigger parts.

Chuck Norris, John Travolta and Jean Claude Van Damme are also on board, joining previous co-stars Jason Statham, Dolph Lundgren, Mickey Rourke and Jet Li, according to the Millennium Pictures website.

Filming is set to begin in October in Bulgaria.

Sly directed the first film, but Simon West will be stepping into the director's chair for the follow-up.

Arnie is currently filming action flick Last Stand, while Bruce is expected to film his Expendables part before jetting off to Russia to reprise his role as John McClane in Die Hard 5.
