Broadbent tips Brooklyn as a hit

Jim Broadbent has predicted that his upcoming film Brooklyn will be a big hit.

Oscar winner Jim said that Nick Hornby's adaptation of his book of the same name had struck gold by casting Saoirse Ronan in the lead role as Ellis Lacey.

He said: "I've finished Brooklyn. I haven't seen it, but I gather it's lovely.

"Saoirse Ronan was amazing, you couldn't get a better casting for that perfect part. I knew the book well and it's a fantastic book. It all came together beautifully, I think it'll be a great success, that one."

Brooklyn is set in the 1950s and is the story of Ellis Lacey, who has to choose between two men and whether to live in Ireland or New York.

The romantic comedy also stars Domhnall Gleeson and Julie Walters, and is due to be released in cinemas next year.

Jim can currently be seen playing Father Christmas in festive family comedy Get Santa, in cinemas now (December 5).
