Broadbent to get dirty in Filth

Jim Broadbent could be set to show his darker side in new film Filth.

The Oscar-winning actor - who can currently be seen starring as Denis Thatcher opposite Meryl Streep in The Iron Lady - is said to be in talks to join the big-screen adaptation of Irvine Welsh's novel as Dr Rossi, Variety reports.

War Horse actor Eddie Marsan, Fright Night's Imogen Poots and Joanne Froggatt are also rumoured to be in the cast.

James McAvoy is already on board as sex-obsessed, bigoted and drug addicted Scottish police officer Bruce Robertson, and Jamie Bell as his sidekick Ray Lennox.

Eddie is tipped to play Bruce's friend Clifford 'Bladesy' Blades, a role previously attached to Toby Jones, with Imogen as Bruce's colleague Amanda Drummond.

Alan Cumming had been rumoured to be cast as Bruce's boss Bob Toal.

Directed by Jon S Baird, production is set to begin shortly in locations around Scotland, Sweden, Belgium and Germany.
