Buckley: Inbetweeners 2 is so funny
James Buckley has revealed that The Inbetweeners movie sequel is coming together.
The 26-year-old will reprise his role as cheeky lad Jay Cartwright alongside co-stars Simon Bird, Joe Thomas and Blake Harrison in the follow-up film, which is slated for release this August.
"We're still working on it. We've still got a bit to do, hence the hairdo," he said, pointing at his shaggy hair.
James is remaining tight-lipped about the movie's plot, saying: " We're in Australia. All I can say is that it's been really great fun and it's really funny. Hopefully everyone will like it."
He added there is some nudity: "There is. It's what we do."
The actor admitted that the success of the first film, released three years ago in 2011, and the TV show are still surprising.
"Everyone kept asking us to make another one, which is lovely. We enjoyed doing it, people enjoyed watching it so we thought, 'Let's make another one'," he continued.
"When we first started doing the show, we all thought it was very funny but we thought we have a strange sense of humour and we thought nobody else is going to find this funny. The whole thing's been a massive surprise."
The father-of-two added: "The last film was three years ago and I still get asked to come to premieres. I've not done much since - I've been at home, getting to know my kids - so it's great that people still love it and still want us to make another one. It's been brilliant."
James also joked that it was "great" to share screen time with actors like Rupert Grint and Shia LaBeouf on Charlie Countryman, saying: "It was great to work with some proper actors for a change, so I learnt doing that."
