Burton finds Frankenweenie cast
Tim Burton is heading back to familiar territory for his new film, Frankenweenie.
The Alice In Wonderland filmmaker has cast Winona Ryder (who previously starred in his films Edward Scissorhands and Beetlejuice) to play the role of Elsa, and Martin Landau (who won an Oscar for his portrayal of Bela Lugosi in Ed Wood) to provide the voice of Mr Rzykruski for the remake of his 1984 short film.
Mars Attacks! actor Martin Short and Catherine O'Hara from Beetlejuice and A Nightmare Before Christmas take on the voices of five characters each, reported Deadline.
Frankenweenie, about a man who reanimates his dog after it gets hit by a car, is being transformed into a feature length stop motion animated Disney film and is slated for release in March 2012.
Next up for Tim is a big screen adaptation of the TV series Dark Shadows, with frequent collaborator Johnny Depp, and the Monsterpocalypse movie.
