Catwoman 'dream role' for Hathaway

Anne Hathaway has revealed that playing Catwoman is a childhood dream come true.

The One Day star plays the feline superhero in the third and final instalment of Christopher Nolan's Batman trilogy, The Dark Knight Rises.

"It was [my dream]. When I started off, with my first role in The Princess Diaries, one of the questions people kept asking me again and again was 'Did you grow up dreaming about being a princess?' And the truth was, no, I want to be Catwoman," she said.

"So it is pretty cool that has worked out," she added.

But Anne is keeping mum on the plot, which will see Christian Bale reprise his role as the Caped Crusader, alongside Tom Hardy as villainous Bane and Marion Cotillard, Sir Michael Caine, Morgan Freeman and Joseph Gordon-Levitt.

Asked if Christopher and Christian plan to finish things by going out with a bang, the actress said: "I would agree, but that might be giving away too much of the script. I can say nothing. He (Christopher) will have my head if I say anything, anything at all."

The Dark Knight Rises is scheduled for release in summer 2012.
