Christine Bleakley presents ITV's new breakfast show

ITV'S new-look breakfast show will be called Daybreak when Adrian Chiles and Christine Bleakley take over, the broadcaster has announced.

Bosses have been planning a massive revamp of the GMTV show, and the departures of several presenters have already been announced.

The BBC says Ulster girl Bleakley will not return to The One Show when it returns on Monday. She was due to present the BBC1 show until September.

Viewers will see the transformed ITV1 show from September, broadcast from “brand new, state-of-the-art studios”.

Director of factual, daytime and GMTV, Alison Sharman said Chiles and Bleakley would be the “linchpins” of Daybreak, which aims to pull in new viewers as well as maintaining current ones.

“As we approach the next stage of this transformational journey, our newly confirmed anchors — Christine and Adrian — will be the linchpins of Daybreak with their unique and brilliant partnership.”

In a statement yesterday, the BBC said: “The BBC would like to take this opportunity to thank Christine for her contribution to the show and to wish her well.”
