Cleese signs up for The B Team
John Cleese is to star in spy spoof The B Team.
The Monty Python star is tipped to play a villain, the dastardly Vachon, in the upcoming film, reported Screen Daily.
It will be the first time he graces the big screen in five years, since 2009's The Pink Panther 2, although he has lent his voice to characters in the Shrek films, Winnie The Pooh and Planes.
The B Team, in the same vein as Austin Powers and Johnny English, is a "fictitious romp" about TV actors from the cancelled show Baywatch who reunite to take down an arch-criminal. It will feature the original cast members playing themselves, although the cast have yet to be announced.
British filmmaker Chris Cottam will direct the film, which has been written by Michael Brody.
Former Baywatch star Alexandra Paul, who played Stephanie Holden on the show, developed the screenplay with her fellow co-star Jaason Simmons (Logan Fowler).
Production is scheduled to start in Budapest on September 22.
John, who is preparing to reunite with his Monty Python collaborators this summer for a series of live UK shows, will also get back with them on Terry Jones' upcoming comedy Absolutely Anything alongside Simon Pegg, Robin Williams and Kate Beckinsale.
