Clooney to star in Man From UNCLE?

George Clooney is being tipped to star as the Man From UNCLE's Napoleon Solo on the big screen.

The Hollywood's heartthrob's good friend Steven Soderbergh is directing the film version of the cult 60s TV show about two secret agents who work for the United Network Command For Law And Enforcement.

George has spoken and met with Steven about US agent Napoleon in the movie, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The pair have already worked together on six films, including the Oceans Eleven series.

The project, which will reportedly be set in the 60s, is still in the early stages of development, and Steven and George are both busy on other projects.

Steven is shooting Contagion, a thriller starring Matt Damon, Jude Law and Marion Cotillard, and has plans for a Liberace biopic.

George begins work directing political drama Ides Of March, adapted from the Broadway play Farragut North, in the new year. He will also star in the film, set for release in December 2011, alongside Ryan Gosling, Paul Giamatti and Marisa Tomei.
