Coolidge, Mullally for Alexander
Jennifer Coolidge and Megan Mullally have joined the cast of Alexander And The Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day.
Steve Carell and Jennifer Garner are already on board to play the parents of 11-year-old Alexander, who will be portrayed by movie newcomer, 12-year-old Australian native Ed Oxenbould.
It is not known what roles 2 Broke Girls star Jennifer and Megan will take in the live-action big-screen adaptation of Judith Viorst's 1972 children's book, reported Collider.
Young talents such as Dylan Minnette (as Alexander's elder brother Anthony), Kerris Dorsey as his sister Emily and Shake It Up's Bella Thorne will also star in the movie.
The story follows the exploits of Alexander as he experiences the most terrible and horrible day of his young life - a day that begins with gum stuck in his hair, followed by one calamity after another.
Production on the Disney film, directed by Independent Spirit Award-winner Miguel Arteta from a screenplay by Rob Lieber, has already started around Los Angeles in time for a release in October 2014.
Jennifer, who is best known for playing Stifler's mum in the American Pie movies, will next be seen in Austenland and her continuing role on 2 Broke Girls.
Megan, best recognised for the squeaky-voiced Karen Walker in Will And Grace, has focused on voicework for animated Disney series such as Sofia The First and Randy Cunningham: 9th Grade Ninja.
