Dominic Cooper could soon take on vampires in Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter.
The Tamara Drewe star is in talks to play the former US President's mentor Henry, a "mysterious ageless guy" who teaches him to "kill bloodsuckers", reported Deadline.
Joaquin Phoenix was initially in negotiations for the role, but studio bosses are said to have contacted Dominic after being impressed by his dual performance as Uday Hussein and the man forced to be his body double in The Devil's Double at the Sundance Film Festival.
Anthony Mackie, who next stars alongside Matt Damon and Emily Blunt in The Adjustment Bureau, is also staking out the part of Will, Abraham's best friend.
Benjamin Walker is set to play the 16th President in Timur Bekmambetov's adaptation of the Seth Grahame-Smith novel, which re-imagines his life as a skilled vampire killer.
