Cruise in Mission Impossible stunt
Tom Cruise has been spotted filming a stunt on a military aeroplane - at 5,000 feet in the air - for Mission: Impossible 5.
The daring star, who reprises his role as field operations agent Ethan Hunt in the fifth instalment of the action movies, was photographed carrying out the death-defying stunt in a rural UK location, reported the Daily Mail.
Wearing a tailored suit, leather shoes and two safety harnesses, the 52-year-old actor was seen hanging from the side of a four-engine Airbus A400M while the aircraft was in motion above the British countryside.
Tom - who has scaled the world's tallest building, the Burj Khalifa in Dubai, and free climbed Colorado's 2,000ft canyons for the Mission Impossible movie franchise - was taught how to do the stunt safely by professional stuntmen.
Mission Impossible 5, directed by Christopher McQuarrie, also stars Jeremy Renner and Simon Pegg. It will be released in December 2015.
The actor has revealed he enjoys doing his own stunts, telling presenter Graham Norton: "As an actor you bring everything, physically and emotionally, to a character.
"I'm able to do them (stunts). I've trained for 30 years doing things like that. I don't get scared. It's quite technical but sometimes things go wrong."
