Cumberbatch for lead in war film
Benedict Cumberbatch is tipped for the lead role in a proposed new war film.
The Sherlock star is linked to the part of hero Captain Stanhope in Journey's End, which would be based on a 1928 play by RC Sherriff, reported the Sunday Times.
The character is a father figure to his men in the trenches in World War One.
Tom Hiddleston and Eddie Redmayne are also linked to the movie.
The film has been in the pipeline for some time but has been hit by delays.
Interest was apparently revived when Prince Andrew wrote to Warner Bros to explain the significance of the movie, and asked for it to be made.
Benedict, 37, is no stranger to war projects, having starred in the film War Horse and the TV series Parade's End.
