Donegal actor dies after battle with cancer

An actor of Irish comedy drama, Sean McGinley, has died following a two-year battle with cancer.

The 57-year-old Donegal actor is best known for his leading roles in award-winning TG4 comedy drama 'CU Burn' and 'Gleann Ceo' and was executive producer in a further 12-part series 'FFC' also for TG4.

In 1998, Mr McGinley or Mac Fionnghaile, set up his own television production company 'Cul a Tigh' and later turned a discussed motor components factory in the Gweedore Industrial Estate into a training school and production centre.

He was also involved with the renowned Aisteoiri Ghaoth Dobhair and played a part in the RTE Raidio na Galetachta comedy series, 'Cois Cuan'.

He is survived by his wife Theresa, two sons, two daughters, his mother Grainne and extended family.

He will be laid to rest tomorrow following 11am Mass in St Columba's Church, Knockfola, West Donegal.
