Dakota Fanning has reportedly been cast in upcoming drama American Pastoral.
The Twilight actress is joining Ewan McGregor and Jennifer Connelly in the big screen adaptation of Philip Roth's Pulitzer Prize-winning novel, reported The Wrap.
Scottish star Ewan will play Seymour 'Swede' Levov, a former high school athlete who seemingly has the perfect life after he marries a former beauty queen (Jennifer) and inherits his father's business.
His life is shattered when his daughter Merry - the part Dakota will play - commits a deadly act of political terrorism during the Vietnam War.
Lakeshore Entertainment president Gary Lucchesi said: "The role of Merry is an extremely complex part, and I believe that Dakota Fanning will break our hearts with her performance."
Filming on American Pastoral is scheduled to begin in March 2015 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
